Giovane at Pacific Rim Fairmont

I have discovered a new drink that I will definitely make at home.
Earl Grey tea with some Amaretto served in a brandy snifter. It was perfect night time finish.
Well, I'm back at this hotel (Faimont Pacific Rim) once again, this time, late at night to have dessert and drink at Giovane's -- their wine bar. There are so many wine bars popping up all over the place lately and this place looks inviting.

It is actually a café in the morning, and a wine bar at night -- basically, it's a casual place to hang out for a quick snack or drink. The pricing for nosh is reasonable - they have charcuterie, cheese selection, salads, pizzas, and pretty desserts.

The Gallery Café

I am often at the Vancouver Art Gallery so I probably take this place for granted, it never even occurred to me to talk about it. It's such a perfect place to lunch though - location, location, location -- in the heart of downtown on Robson. They have an excellent selection of paninis, salads and desserts. In the summer time, you can sit out there in the patio with the flowers, music in the background and lazily people watch as you sip your sauvignon blanc and graze on your salad Niçoise or sip your cappuccino while indulging on some tiramasu.

It's a very pleasant place to be in the summer (if you can manage to find a table outside -- it gets very busy on beautiful summer days).

Thierry Chocolaterie

One of the newest pretty places. So girly, so French, so yummy. Besides beautiful pastries and chocolates, they also have baguette sandwiches and wine of course.

It's not exactly a cheap place to eat, but you can't help but feel very chic -- good for ladies who lunch (quick lunch that is).

Pearl on the Rock

I was at Pearl on the Rock during Dine Out in early February early in the evening, there were only two tables occupied. It sure didn't last long, though, in no time at all, every table was taken. This place had an amazing wine list! Very impressive (if you can swing $1000 for a bottle, they have it available.) I suggest their set menus. They were well designed and thoughtfully prepared. The sipping amuse bouche in a shot glass was a nice way to begin the meal. The most interesting part of the meal were the soy "pearls" (droplets that look like caviar) that came with the shucked oysters. Very cool.
